Granitas

The Traditional Granita

Traditionally a semi-frozen dessert made from sugar, water and various flavorings, related to slushies, sorbet, snow cones and Italian ice.

Healthy Fruit Granitas

By exchanging fruit juices for sugared or syrups flavoured water we create a much healthier version.



Pineapple, Apple Ginger Granita

Ingredients

  • 1/4 Pineapple,
  • 2 Apples
  • Small knob of Ginger

Method

  1. Juice Pineapple, Apple and Ginger in a juicer
  2. Freeze juice in freezer
  3. When almost completely frozen blend in a food processor,
  4. Freeze and Repeat.
  5. Alternatively fill a food processor with ice cubes and pour over juice and blend for a quicker and silkier Granita. - This version does not taste as strong nor does it retain its frozen texture for as long.

Note:
Any fruit juices can be used to create a Granita using the method above. A healthy treat for a hot day!
